Admission to Research Program
Admissions will be made to Full-Time (Regular research scholars) Ph.D. research programs offered by the J N T University Kakinada every year. Our research programs provide an intellectually stimulating environment with state-of-the-art facilities and mentorship from renowned faculty members.
Important Dates: Applications open in June every year
Program Duration: Minimum 3 years, Maximum 6 years
Research Areas: Engineering, Sciences, Management, and Humanities
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have:
- B.Tech. and M.Tech in appropriate/relevant branch of Engineering
- Post Graduate degree in concerned discipline
Minimum Marks Requirement

Note: Candidates in the final year of their qualifying examination may also apply, provided they complete all requirements by the time of admission.
Mode of Selection
Standard Selection Process
Selection will be based on:
- Performance in Entrance Examination conducted by JNTUK
- Interview performance
- Percentage of marks obtained in undergraduate and postgraduate qualifying examinations
Exemptions from Written Test
The following candidates are exempt from the written test:
- UGC-NET / UGC CSIR NET qualified candidates
- SLET qualified candidates
- GATE / GPAT qualified candidates
- Teacher Fellowship holders
- Candidates who have passed M.Phil program
- Candidates qualified in other tests as per UGC-2016 guidelines
Note for exempt candidates: You are still required to appear for the interview as per the schedule, which will be displayed on the JNTUK website.

- Register with valid email and mobile number
- Fill the application form with required details
- Upload scanned copies of documents
- Pay the application fee online
- Submit the application before deadline
Required Documents
- Mark sheets and certificates (10th onwards)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Qualifying examination scorecard (GATE/NET etc.)
- Research proposal (if required)
- Passport size photograph
- Signature
